Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Mason County was founded in 1879 for the purpose of furnishing insurance coverage against fire, wind, & lightening on various classifications of property. Today the company still offers the fire and extended coverage policy along with a homeowner’s policy. We cover dwellings, mobile homes, churches, commercial property, farm buildings, machinery, livestock, farm and personal liability.

Farmers Mutual Insurance of Mason County is an assessment company operating under chapter #299 of the Kentucky Insurance Laws. We are a mutual company owned by the policyholders and governed by the board of directors. Every person, to whom a policy of insurance is issued by the company, shall thereby be and become a member of the company.

Policies as of December 31, 2010, numbered 3,996 with direct written premiums of $2,114,000. The policyholder’s are served by the director’s of the company that also act as agents.

The company is reinsured through Guy Carpenter and Company, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA. Policyholder’s surplus was $3,634,000 as of December 31, 2010. The Kentucky Department of Insurance examines the financial condition of the company every four years with Independent audits done annually.
